This issue we feature what is quite possibly the finest feature ever in PC Format. Starting on page 6 we set out to see what real difference a high-end rig makes over a budget system when it comes to gaming. We're not talking a small difference either, think 300 GBP versus 3000 GBP for three main components, and you should get an idea of what we're looking at.the important differentiating factor with this feature is that the final decision about what is better doesn't come down to a long list of benchmarks (although we give you those as well) bot down to the real-world performance as perceived by four gamers. One rig may boast double the frame rate of the other, but is that disparity noticeable? Can a gamer see the difference? The results are alarming.
The high-end rig in this face off boasts the latest components and in the graphics department we have none other than the Radeon HD 7970, the much-anticipated next-generation card from AMD.
